1968 Chevy C10
Stepside – restored – beautiful truck!
I bought this Chevrolet
short bed step side from a gentleman a few weeks ago. He was in need of some cash and the truck wasn’t drivable (see
below*) so I took it on as a quick turn around project.
The previous owner
was 62 years old, and had the truck for about 10 years. He originally bought it, to give, to his teen age son, but the boy
lost interest. After sitting for a bit in his garage, he decided to sell it.
350
V8 stock – runs great
Turbo 350 transmission, 3 speed automatic
It looks like someone
did a ‘driver restoration’ on the truck. Meaning, the truck was restored to look like a new truck, but also be
a daily driver. In other words, it wasn’t a frame-off resto with a fully powder coated chassis, but, very clean nonetheless.
It’s got:
-
Newer paint (might be several years old, but has been garaged kept since)
-
New trim and moldings
- New weather-stripping
-
All of the chrome is in great shape
- Glass is in excellent shape
- 15” aluminum wheels
with 275/60-15 great condition tires
- New dual exhaust with
chrome tips
-
The wood in the bed is in great shape
- All lights work, signal, dome, etc…
- All of the
gauges work, temp, oil pressure, fuel, etc…
- Interior
is all new, seat, carpet, door panels, dash pad, etc…
- Seat belts are in tact
- Windshield wipers function
properly
-
Heater works great, including fan and defrost
- Rebuilt TH350 transmission with receipts
- Coil springs
look newer
-
New battery
We just installed a
new set of ball joints, upper and lower, this was $500, and the truck has been given a clean bill of health.
*The truck wasn’t drivable when we acquired it due to the driveshaft carrier bearing
was broken. We just installed a whole new unit. Drives great!
Just changed the oil
and filter.
As you can see in the pictures, there is no rot under the wood bed.
It has not been driven in the rain since the restoration.
Current and clean title in hand.
March 2010 registration.
The paint and bodywork looks to be done by an average paint shop, not show quality by
any means. There are a few little blems here and there, and its got a little orange peel, nothing that a good cut and buff
couldn’t fix. For a driver, the paint is great, you’re just not gonna win the Oakland Roadster show with it.
This is the light duty model, with 5 lug wheels, and coil spring rear suspension. This
is a favorite of the resto-mod crowd. It is very easy to lower and there are tons of aftermarket goodies out there.
I have personally spent a few days driving this truck, to and from work, as I do with
all our cars before we sell them, and this truck drives great! Its fun and easy to drive, gets all the looks and compliments.
If I didn’t have so many cars/trucks now, I’d keep it.
If you’re looking
for a completely restored show quality C10, keep looking this isn’t it. They’re out there, get your wallet ready.
If you’re looking for a really clean, great driving, no nonsense C10, You’ve
found it! This truck is not only an American classic, but it’s also good reliable transportation. I wouldn’t hesitate
to get in this truck, and drive it across country, its ready to go.
The truck is located
in the showroom of my off-road shop in Brentwood 94513. Please call ahead for an appointment, my cell 925-588-4800.
I’m not looking for any trades.
I’m
not desperate, I don’t need the money.
I am, however, somewhat
negotiable with the right buyer and right attitude.
